Winds of Change

Oh, how they howl at my door, drawing me out, teasing my curls and my skirts, pulling me out into the world.

I am wide eyed and wheeling. No. Not yet, but soon. This place doesn't deserve my all - it will take and take and leave me hopeless and reeling if I allow it.

The goddess is alive and magic is afoot.
The magic is alive and the goddess is afoot.

I'm coming out of the woods.

Good Morning

Spirit of the wind, carry me,
Spirit of the wind, carry me home.
Spirit of the wind, carry me home to myself.

It's hard to turn into a butterfly on a winter's night,
that's such a senseless plight...

-Ubaka Hill - Spirit of the Wind

I watched the moon set this morning. When I returned home, I first noticed the moon had become ensnared in Grandmother Oak in the back yard. The sky was lavender and the moon was golden and misted, and it laughed as the branches of the oak tickled and poked and stroked.

I walked to our circle, greeted all that was, and entered. My feet carried me slowly to each quarter, and each step gave me a renewed core of strength and fulfillment as I grounded and centered and came into myself.

I reached the center and looked up to the sky, now gray and relenting to the invasion of blue from the sunrise behind my back. The moon returned to her pearl, her bone, her chalk white as she sank below the horizon and out of the reaches of Grandmother Oak.

I raised my coffee cup to the scene, my heart full of the temporary joy one scrabbles for in religion, and offered my sincere appreciation for the existence of it all. I drank in honor of the moon, the sky, the sun, the oak, the cluster of cells that is me all bloated with blood and full of electricity.

I turned on my heel and with a laughing heart walked to the exit of the circle. I turned and looked in again, and offered the blessing and benediction that I offer you all:

Go, and Be!

Been busy!

Well, it's official. The Organic food shop is closing down, and I am now back to splitting my time between them and the coffee shop.

I'm focused on a lot of living, and not a lot of blogging. Sorry, y'all! It just kind of comes and goes.

Be well!

Be new!

Be in joy!

The Rat Race Continues...

Well. Let's give a recap.

I've been working at the Organic Food Store for a couple of months now. The workload is easy to handle, customers are mostly pleasant, my legs are muscular again, my strength and constitution are increased, and I am back to my ideal weight. Excellent!

While I don't get paid the best there, there are other perks. Culled fruits and vegetables make up a large part of my diet now, and the employee discount makes eating healthier a lot easier. So I don't care so much about the pay.

Unfortunately, the store will be closing in a couple of months. I'm guaranteed about a month and a half's worth of full time hours, and will be cut down to part time until he can no longer afford me. *sigh* It was nice while it lasted, but the family who owns the store is moving out of state, and I can't blame them for wanting to leave this area.

So I am almost unemployed!

But I do have options.

There is a barista position available for me down the block...which I can do, but don't enjoy as much. Amount of hours are uncertain, and business everywhere is slow so tips are down.

I still have my Etsy shop. The fall and winter craft bug has bitten me hard, and I've been beading and candling like a madwoman, and coming up with new honey blends to sell. But you can follow that at my other blog, The Pixie's Pocket!

And if I have to, I will get a waitstaff position. It might be tough in this economy, but I have been working in an area that is tight-knit...and my customer service skills are pretty good if I do say so myself! I am fairly certain that I can find gainful employment without too much concern.

I am so glad to have cut ties with the idea of a career or high-falutin job like that terrible Office of the Past which is consequently about to implode upon itself. *sigh* All of that is behind me, and I work on my own terms. Huzzah!

May you all have a happy and safe Holiday weekend, and fer chrissakes, my fellow Americans, please stop stomping on other people to bleed out your hard-won cash for consumerist holiday crap!!!

Thank you.

BucketBeats is awesome!

I just came across a site called "Bucket Beats" and I am so glad that I did!

It is a collection of videos of street bucket drummers, and if you are a percussion junkie like me, you'll love it too.
